Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) - Slovakia

STUSTU is a modern educational and scientific institution that is seeking to develop expertise in the area of sustainable development and Education for Sustainability. Since its foundation the year 1937 more than 1250000 students have graduated. All the STU faculties and institutes provide a study in accredited study programs within the complex system of bachelor, master and PhD study in accordance with the Bologna declaration and ICTS system.

The Institute of Management with its Central European Research and Training Centre in Spatial Planning - SPECTRA focuses at interdisciplinary research in spatial development, with the emphasis on the problems of the settlement structures by integrating different hierarchic levels and aspects of spatial development, being involved in has been involved in 5 projects in the 5thEU FP under the key action City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage of the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development thematic programme, 1 project in the 6thEU FP, and 7 projects under the INTERREG and EU Structural Funds schemes.

The SPECTRA Centre of Excellence EU at the Slovak University of Technology, the largest and oldest university of technology in Slovakia, focuses at interdisciplinary research in spatial development, with the emphasis on the environmental and social problems of the settlement structures by integrating different hierarchic levels and aspects of spatial development, being involved in has been involved in 5 projects in the 5thEU FP under the key action City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage of the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development thematic programme, 1 project in the 6thEU FP, and 7 projects under the INTERREG and EU Structural Funds schemes. Merging the capacity form the Slovak University of Technology, Slovak Academy of Sciences and Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Comenius University in Bratislava in the field of settlement infrastructure for knowledge based society it creates the unique workshop in research and education on sustainable spatial development.

Role of STU in the project:

  • Contribute to the mapping exercise in Slovakia.
  • Assist in the development of an online platform of resources as well as get familiarised and review the online tool.
  • Translate project materials into the national language.
  • Contribute to the bi-annual newsletters.
  • Provide feedback to the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework.
  • Contribute to the dissemination and exploitation of the project outputs, outcomes and future network activities.
  • Participate and actively contribute to the discussions generated in regional and annual meetings, seminars and conference.

Operational and financial management:

  • The project team will coordinate the above administrative and academic project activities.
  • Accounting at the STU is centralised, the management responsibility is at Director of the SPECTRA Centre of Excellence.
